Peter James supports Brighton doctors with charity book launch

Authors and ex GPs Dr Rod Brooks and Dr Duncan Stewart have written a book called Sex, Drugs & General Practice - all about their funny, sad and fascinating careers as GPs.

In association with Brighton Hospice charity Martlets, a book launch was held in the Brighton Town Hall's - Mayor’s Chamber yesterday.

I felt very humbled to be in a room full of such special people. These included Dr Douglas Chamberlain - who was instrumental in the training and techniques that ensure all Ambulance Staff are able to carry out life-saving cardiac treatment, Author Peter James (Grace etc), Songwriter and now Crime Writer - Tony Macaulay (he co-wrote many classics such as  Love grows where my Rosemary goes (Edison Lighthouse),

‘Baby, Now That I've Found You’ & ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’ - (Foundations), "Let the Heartaches Begin (Long John Baldry), Sorry Suzanne (The Hollies) and wrote 'Don't Give Up on Us' - (David Soul)

, Brighton's new Mayor Jackie O’Quinn and Juliet Smith the Chair of Trustees for Martlets.

My job was to photograph this event and I won't forget it in a hurry. I was generously given a copy of the book which I have already started and it is , as expected, a real 'page-turner'!
